United Hospice of Coastal Carolina is owned and operated by the UHS-Pruitt Corporation, a Southeast Regional based organization whose corporate offices are located in Toccoa and Lilburn Georgia. The office for United Hospice of Coastal Carolina is located in New Bern and serves Beaufort, Craven, Jones, Onslow, Pamlico and Pender Counties.

United Hospice Services include:

  1. The Interdisciplinary team consisting of a chaplain, social worker, certified nursing assistant, registered nurse and volunteers which is guided by the Hospice Medical Director and the individual’s personal physician.
  2. Medical Equipment, supplies and medications related to the terminal illness.
  3. Respite Services for the family or caregiver.
  4. Community Education and Information regarding end-of-life care, advanced directives, bereavement, grief, and loss.
  5. Bereavement services include individual counseling, group support and monthly newsletters.

      Eligibility:

       In
dividuals who have a terminal illness and prefer comfort care and symptom management rather
       than curative treatment are eligible. A physician’s medical order is required to begin an
       assessment and initiate treatment.  Individuals are accepted into hospice services without
       regard to their ability to pay or their living arrangements. 

Payments:

Hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most other private insurances.  All medical equipment, home care services, medications, and other costs related to managing    the terminal illness are covered by the hospice benefit.  United Hospice does not charge a patient any co-pays.
