Tar Heel Home Health is a state licensed and Medicare certified home health agency  which also accepts clients covered by  Medicaid and private insurance.  Tar Heel serves clients throughout the state of North Carolina

Medicare certification means that Tar Heel can bill Medicare for qualifying services and does not require a co-pay or deductible.

Qualifying Services are the need for skilled care ordered by your physician and that you be considered homebound, which means that you can leave your home but it requires considerable assistance and the reasons are primarily for medical care.

Skilled care or services are those provided by a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, Speech Therapist or Occupational Therapist

Referrals can be made by self, family, physicians, community agencies, hospital or skilled nursing facility discharge planners.  A phone call requesting an evaluation is all it takes. The staff from Tar Heel will work with you and your physician to determine if you meet the qualifying criteria.

Examples of skilled care services provided by a registered nurse:

              Teaching and management of medications

              Teaching you or a family member how to do a dressing change following surgery.

              Teach you how to adjust to dietary changes.

             Teach you how to adapt your lifestyle to changes which will  keep your medical 
             condition under control.

              Intravenous therapy for antibiotics and chemotherapy in the home.

Examples of skilled services provided by a therapist:   A therapist establishes an exercise program for strengthening and return of function following: 

            Knee or hip joint replacements

           A stroke

           A fall or illness that has caused weakness
