PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAMSIndigent patient prescription drug program: For persons not covered under an insurance program and who are unable to pay for medicines check website www.pharma.org Go to website; find information on a company that makes the drugs that you are taking. Each company has different drugs, rules of eligibility, and rules to obtain the drugs. The physician must order the drug, and fill out the forms. The patient must at times provide tax returns to prove lack of income. The drugs may be sent to you or the physician dispenses the drugs through his office. Knights of Columbus Prescription Drug Program 252-635-9016 Walter Bock will work with you to fill out your forms that need to be sent to the drug company of choice. There is no charge for his services. Basic criteria are US citizenship, no insurance coverage and low income or inability to pay for medication.
Discount Card Programs: Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) went into effect Jan 1 2007
For those who do not have prescription coverage equal to or better than the Medicare plan, there will be a penalty of 1% a mo for not enrolling by December 31, 2006. Base penalty will change each year. Those with limited income and assets may be eligible for help with costs Extra help with Plan is available if savings, investments and real estate (besides home) are less than $12,510/yr if single or $25,010 if married and living with spouse. If you are very close to the limit and there are unusual circumstances, do check out your eligibility for the extra help.
