Hospice of Pamlico County’s Lifeline Program (HPC Lifeline) rents personal emergency response units to Pamlico residents with the proceeds funding the agency for terminally ill patients in Pamlico County.

HPC Lifeline Program provides a “voice assist” two-way communication between the subscriber and the monitoring center available 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.  Subscribers obtain assistance by pressing the personal help button that sends the signal to the monitoring site and is received by the   personnel who answer the call.  He (or she) speaks directly with the subscriber assessing the need and sending the necessary assistance.

The Lifeline emergency responder units are up-to-date “voice assist” equipment with a 15-hour back-up battery that recharges itself usually within 24 hours of power being restored.   Units are equipped with a speaker that allows subscriber to speak to the monitor dispatcher even if they are not in reach of a telephone.  The units in use are safety checked each month.  The personal help button is waterproof and can be worn as a necklace or on a wristband, even in the shower.

Lifeline’s monthly rental is $35.00 for the unit, $5 for the inactivity timer (if desired) and $20.00 for a one-time installation fee.   Medicaid CAP- qualified subscribers may be eligible for financial assistance and should check with the Pamlico Senior Services’ CAP Manager.
