Hospice of Pamlico County’s Lifeline Program (HPC Lifeline) rents personal emergency response units to Pamlico residents.  The proceeds benefit HPC’s hospice program to provide care to the terminally ill.

HPC Lifeline Program offers a “voice assist” two-way communication between the subscriber and the monitoring center available 24 hours-a-day, 7 days a week.  Subscribers obtain assistance by pressing the personal help button that sends a signal to the monitoring site.   The subscriber then speaks directly with a Lifeline Monitor who will assess the need and dispatch the necessary assistance.

The Lifeline emergency responder units are up-to-date “voice assist” equipment with a 15-hour back-up battery that recharges itself within 24 hours of power being restored.   Units are equipped with a speaker that allows a subscriber to speak to the monitor even when unable to reach a telephone.    The units are safety checked each month.  The personal help button is waterproof and can be worn as a necklace or on a wristband.

Lifeline’s monthly rental fee is $35.00 for the unit, $5 for the inactivity timer (if desired) and $25.00 for a one-time activation fee.   Medicaid CAP program participants may be eligible for financial assistance and may contact the Pamlico County Senior Services’ CAP Manager for information on CAP eligibility

For additional information about the Lifeline program, or to subscribe, please call the Hospice business office Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM at (252) 745-5171
