Neuse River Community Development Corporation, Inc. (NRCDC) is a non-profit community development organization formed in 1996 to address the housing and community development needs in the low wealth neighborhoods of New Bern and Craven County.

Do you dream of homeownership?

Call NRCDC to discover if it is indeed possible for you to become a homeowner.

Homeownership Process:

          1. Your income must be 30%-80% of the area median income for Craven County, which is currently $46,900.00.

          2. Fill out an application for an interview with NRCDC and/or for a referral to a lender and for homeownership counseling.

            3. NRCDC will assist in determining the qualifications, criteria and solutions for obtaining a mortgage (counseling, debt reduction, budgeting).

Benefits:

            1.  All potential homeowners that complete homeownership counseling through Twin Rivers Opportunities or another certified agency and purchase one of the NRCDC’s homes will receive $1,000.00 toward closing costs.

            2. All NRCDC homes come with a stove, new floors, roofs, HVAC systems, and landscaping.  Homeowners are asked to participate after the home is completed with such things as painting, landscaping and other miscellaneous items.

            3. Tharesa Lee, Nonprofit Coordinator, Certified Housing Counselor & Facilitator, acts as a mentor preparing clients for homeownership and the art of being a good neighbor.

            4. Upon moving into your new home, the Greater Duffyfield Residents Council, a partner of NRCDC welcomes you with an open house or purchase of a home maintenance basket; you become part of the family of homeowners.  NRCDC also publishes a newsletter that highlights its new homeowners, information on home maintenance, good neighboring and volunteer opportunities.

NRCDC is always looking for volunteers to help carry out its mission.  A donation of houses, property, and monetary gifts are always appreciated.  Check the above website for further information.
