             Fill out form, have it certified by an audiologist, present to club for review.

If accepted by the club, they will pay for test and hearing aid placed behind ear.   

Will do interior placement only if Dr recommends, however client must pay part of

costs.

            This center will provide you with information regarding resources and funding for hearing aids as well as providing you with information on the North Carolina Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program.  A representative at the RRC will be available to help you. A satellite office is now open in the Senior Center on George Street, in New Bern, The second Tuesday of every month from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

            Will assist persons with hearing disabilities to become gainfully employed.  Those with hearing impairments may apply for services to determine if they are eligible.  A financial needs assessment is required. Diagnostic services to determine eligibility for services can be provided without a financial needs assessment.  Go to the web site http://dvr.dhhs.state.nc.us  for more information or call the toll-free number

Medicaid

         Pays for hearing aids for children to age 21.  Replaced every 4 years if necessary.

Medicare

       Will only pay for a Doctor’s visit and hearing tests. Does not pay for a hearing aid.

Telephone Assistance

There is telephone assistance for the hearing impaired Through Sprint’s “ Relay North Carolina”.    Call 1-800-999-5737 to obtain the necessary equipment or a TTY (text telephone) for your home (there is no cost to those who qualify based on income restrictions). Once installed, dial 711 for Sprint Relay Assistance Service.
