This
center will provide you with information regarding resources and
funding for hearing aids as well as providing you with information on the
North Carolina Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program. A
representative at the RRC will be available to help you. A satellite
office is now open in the Senior Center on George Street, in New Bern, The
second Tuesday of every month from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Vocational

Will assist
persons with hearing disabilities to become gainfully employed. Those
with hearing impairments may apply for services to determine if they are
eligible. A financial needs assessment is required. Diagnostic services
to determine eligibility for services can be provided without a financial

Medicaid
Pays for
hearing aids for children to age 21. Replaced every 4 years if necessary.
Medicare
Will only
pay for a Doctor’s visit and hearing tests. Does not pay for a
hearing aid.

There is telephone
assistance for the hearing impaired Through Sprint’s “ Relay North
Carolina”. Call 1-800-999-5737 to obtain the necessary
equipment or a TTY (text telephone) for your home (there is no cost to
those who qualify based on income restrictions). Once installed, dial 711
for Sprint Relay Assistance Service.
