Craven CARES is a community-based organization that is a resource for community education, prevention information and support for persons affected by HIV/AIDS. The organization is made up of local citizens who are passionate about creating an accepting and educated community about this disease. Craven CARES is funded by grants, private donations and gifts. The organization works with Craven County Health Department and Craven County Department of Social Services CONFIDENTIALITY IS A MANDATE. CRAVEN CARES can help with the following: Referrals for support and resources for persons newly diagnosed. Education and prevention programs for any community organizations or individuals.
Provision of pantry items not covered by Food Stamps Finding “Buddies” for those affected by the disease and in need of a friend. SPECIAL PROGRAMS: Holiday food baskets (Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter) World AIDS Day Observance Making quilt panels to include in the AIDS Memorial Quilt to honor those who have passed away. Craven CARES meets every month on the 3rd Tuesday at 5:30pm. Currently meetings are held in the " Lighthouse" of First Presbyterian Church, corner of New and Hancock Streets 8/2008 |
